*Tallow & Honey hair mask- I'm so excited about this one after realizing how many benefits Tallow has on the hair. All herbs in this formula are from our farm, and it is oh so nourishing! Light and fluffy Mutton tallow infused with Silica rich Horsetail we harvested this past Spring, beautiful nourishing White Cedar tips, and farm grown Calendula flowers amd real vanilla bean and combined with hydrating raw honey harvested from the shores of Big Manistique Lake creating such a luxurious, soft and silky hair mask (that could very well be used for a number of other things as well!)

 I'm going to start posting some highlights of the new products as we wrap up getting caught up from last weeks drop of no PUFA herbal skincare
One of the new products is this Tallow & Honey Deep Hair Mask. This took quite a bit of exploration to get to the end result. Honey is water soluble, and tallow is oil soluble, so it's not as simple as just combining them together. There's emusifying that needs to take place while all the while getting the consistency to the perfect light and fluffy non sticky point to create a deeply nourishing, hydrating hair mask. During the early days of this formulation is when I felll in love with infusing vanilla beans into Tallow. Oh my word. The softness, the warm and gentle creamy aroma is just everything and more (which, is of course going to lead to another tallow product for cooking. We already have a sweet Ghee and savory Ghee but only a savory tallow. So our course, a sweet tallow naturally comes next 😆)
So the big questions, why use honey in your hair?!  Well, honey actually has BOTH emollient and humectant properties. It's emollient properties smooth the hair and add shine, which makes it a great conditioner. The humectant properties bond with water molecules which adds moisture and locks it in to dry hair.  These combined properties have an incredibly hydrating and healing affect on damaged hair. Honey also strengthens hair follicles, stimulates hair growth and nourishes the scalp, 
Now the next question, why use tallow?? 
We know tallow is wonderful for us internally, as well as our skin externally. So why wouldn't it be great for our hair? These are the questions I asked myself a while back as I was brushing my hair that hadn't been brushed for some time. Tallow is incredibly hydrating, helps to control frizz, it's incredibly smooth and non greasy in this formula. This traditional fat is exceptionally clean and loaded with nutrients. Once I experimented with tallow in my hair care routine, I realized I could never go back. It's an absolute game changer!
