This listing is for folks local to the UP or visiting the UP and can be utilized as a one on one foraging walk or a private group class.
The walk is a 3 hour adventure through diverse ecosystems unique to the upper penninsula. We will discuss plants in season, sustainable harvesting practices, folk, and traditional uses and preparations. We'll discuss and identify poisonous plants as a common look alike as well (because those are just as important, if not more!)
Bring a notepad and a basket to harvest goodies to bring home. Also included in this class is a campfire post walk, with a meal prepared over the fire with some of the wild edibles we harvested. During this time, we'll go over everything we saw and harvested and answer any remaining curiosities or questions.
Classes are held in Schoolcraft County. Please specify a date or dates you would like your private class in the note line of your order, as well as if you would like it to be an adult or child class as well as dietary preferences.
The time of year determines the plants we discuss and the type of gear to bring (bug spray, boots ect). An email will be sent with those details when we schedule)
