Here's a remedy I've been working on for a good 6 weeks or so, and I have had it in my mind even longer. Some of you are familiar with our Moon Tincture, and with that, you know just how important hormonal modulation is on a woman's overall health and well-being, both physically and mentally.

I decided to create a cream to further help with natural hormonal balance, especially if tinctures aren't your thing. This is a great alternative.

This cream is crafted with a strong infusion of Chasteberries, White Peony Root, Blessed Thistle, and Dandelion root. Paired with Tallow for maximum absorbancy. As I've mentioned before, I love using Tongue, especially with topical remedies because its cellular makeup is so similar to ours. It lends itself as a better catalyst for herbal compounds.

As a woman, our bodies constantly change throughout the month. Some of us struggle to produce enough progesterone to create a balance. Some of the unpleasant results end up being things like PMDD, prenatal depression (depression during pregnancy), painful periods, brain fog, mood swings, weight gain, and things like that. It took me a while to piece these things together in my own experiences, while most medical providers wanted to jump straight to meds without further investigation. This cream can be used 1-2 weeks prior to menstruation. 1-2x a day and applied to the abdomen, inner arms, thighs, and breasts.

All in all, that's how the Moon Tincture came about, and now the Moon cream. These herbs support my body beautifully, but everybody is different, so be sure to do your diligence to see if this is right for you

So, let's meet the plants!

Chasteberries (aka Vitex). This berry is one of the most well-known herbal allies for balancing hormones. It has actually been used for thousands of years and is thought to aid with naturally increasing progesterone production.

White Peony root. This incredible root has been traditionally used to aid with everything from PCOS, endometriosis, and even just painful menstruation. It has anti-spasmodic properties and something called paeoniflorin, a natural muscle relaxant. The reason this root peaked my interest was the studies done showing its ability to aid with raising progesterone levels naturally while also lowering testosterone and modulating estrogen.

Dandelion Root. Not only is Dandelion Root known for supporting and repairing the liver to help rid the body of excess hormone buildup like estrogen as well as promoting bile circulation, but it's also been studied to show its ability to aid with the bodies hormones receptors

Blessed Thistle. In the same way Dandelion root has been shown to support the liver, so does Blessed Thistle. Having a good liver function is critical because without it, your body won't be able to efficiently remove excess estrogen. This is another well-known plant to support hormonal imbalance.

Paired with the Tallow, which is non inflammatory, is stable, and slows oxidation. It's also loaded with bioavailable nutrients both topically and internally.

A quick reminder why Tallow is my first choice when crafting skin food 😋

Most of our favorite skin care products are made with PUFAs, and they're touted to be anything and everything for our skin. I've certainly used plenty of them for myself, for my family, and in products. They have so many great qualities, and I'm not going to sit here and say they're all bad, but moderation is certainly key as with everything. Essentially, the issue with PUFAs is that they are most times unstable and this leads to oxidation (damage and deterioration) when they're exposed to light, heat or air (so, anytime they're on our skin). Their molecules have double bonds, rendering them weak and easily broken. So why does any of this matter? Well, when these oils on your skin oxidize, it creates a free radical cascade, which damages what may have been previously UNdamaged lipids in your skin. PUFAs have now been identified as the main culprit of cellular damage. In fact, there have actually been studies done of internal use of PUFAs vs not, and how quickly the individual consuming PUFAs skin starts to get damaged and deterioration sets in, because what you eat affects your skin too.

This is why we generally try to only use MUFAs (monounsaturated fatty acids) and SFAs (saturated fatty acids), aka Tallow! SFAs have no molecular double bonds, which means there isn't any opportunity for oxygen to squeeze in and oxidation to occur. Some other SFAs you've been seeing us utilize are Lanolin, Cocoa Butter, and things like that.

This cream is scent free and comes in a 4oz jar.
