All of our dried medicinals will be offered in packets like these, with informationals and common preparations and all of our dried herbs are and will be processed through a method called "garbling". This method keeps the plant material in larger peices which means less surface area which leads to less oxidation. Less oxidation means a longer shelf life and more potency. This method of hand processing means we sort through every herb, every leaf and every flower. You get the most potent part of every harvest.

Northern White Cedar is a sacred plant in many, if not all, Native American territories and traditions, so its important to harvest respectfully. We've made sure to research thoroughly so our harvesting methods stay respectful . Cedar is best harvested at sunrise, and never harvesting so much from one tree to notice. Harvesting tip by tip from many different areas so not one portion of the tree is impacted in a negative way. On the North Woods Farm, the Cedars love growing with their feet wet by the lake, and are surrounded by Birch, Firs, Maples and Spruce.

Cedar isn't a plant that you would need to utilize daily, but more as an as needed basis because of its potency. Generally, no more than 1 cup of tea per day, 3 cups per week. It has powerful antibacterial and antiviral properties, and is immunomodulating. Cedar contains thujone, which is toxic but is not water soluble. Thujone is ethenol soluble, so tincturing is not advised. Traditionally Cedar is prepared as a tea, steam or burning. Cedar can be added to baths and prepared for various topical applications. It's nickname is The Tree of Life, and has been used traditionally for everything from colds and respiratory distress, to headaches, congestion and fevers. Topically, for muscle aches and pains, minor wounds and even rashes.
